Aishwarya Rai’s Statement Amid Divorce Rumors with Abhishek Bachchan Goes Viral: ‘My Father Was Not…’

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, cherished as one of Bollywood’s most iconic couples, have recently become the subject of speculation over a possible rift. Fans noted Aishwarya’s absence from Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday video, her solo event appearances, and whispers of Abhishek’s rumored closeness with Nimrat Kaur, fueling conversations about their marriage status. Amid this gossip, a heartfelt, old interview with Aishwarya has resurfaced, offering insight into the spontaneous story of their engagement.

The couple wed on April 20, 2007, with their marriage grabbing significant media attention. However, few are aware of the unconventional way their “Roka” ceremony unfolded. In the interview, Aishwarya recounted how the ceremony took place unexpectedly, with Abhishek’s family arriving without prior arrangements. Abhishek had proposed to her, and soon after, she recalls, “We are South Indians, so I didn’t know what ‘Roka’ was. Suddenly, we got a call from their house saying, ‘We are coming.’ Abhishek said, ‘We’re on the way,’ and I thought, ‘Oh my God, what is happening?’”

The engagement happened quickly, even without her father Krishnaraj Rai, who was out of town at the time and had to be on a phone call to witness the moment. Reflecting on the event, Aishwarya explained how both she and her mother, Brinda Rai, were taken by surprise as the Bachchans arrived for the impromptu ceremony.

Married now for 17 years, Aishwarya and Abhishek share a daughter, Aaradhya. Despite ongoing rumors, the couple has remained tight-lipped. The speculation grew after Aishwarya attended events like Anant Ambani’s wedding and the SIIMA Awards with only Aaradhya by her side. Abhishek’s absence and the silence from the Bachchan family regarding Aishwarya’s achievements have only added to the ongoing buzz around Bollywood’s beloved couple.
