Until yesterday, Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, held the record for the highest number of tickets sold in a single hour (95.71K) on the BookMyShow portal. However, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has now smashed that record on its release day. Directed by Sukumar, the highly anticipated sequel set a new benchmark by selling an impressive 97.74K tickets in just one hour.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that while Kalki 2898 AD achieved its milestone over a weekend, Pushpa 2 reached this feat on its very first day. With its unprecedented momentum, Pushpa 2 is expected to continue breaking its own records and is poised to become the first Indian film to surpass the 150K ticket sales mark in a single hour by the weekend.
Interestingly, Pushpa 2 was on track to achieve this record earlier, but a technical glitch caused by heavy traffic on the ticketing platform delayed the milestone. With this record-setting performance, the Allu Arjun starrer has raised the bar for upcoming PAN-Indian films, making it a daunting challenge for future releases to surpass.
