The much-anticipated Kanguva, initially touted to be Kollywood’s first Rs. 1000 crore blockbuster, has not lived up to expectations, receiving largely unfavorable reviews from critics and tepid word-of-mouth feedback. Directed by Siruthai Siva, the film has drawn criticism for its execution and exaggerated presentation style, which has affected audience reception.
However, producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja remains hopeful that Kanguva will eventually gain traction. In a surprising twist, Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran has edged past Kanguva in ticket sales on Book My Show. Over the last 24 hours, Kanguva sold 114.78K tickets, while Amaran slightly surpassed it with over 115K tickets sold.
This lead, though narrow, is significant considering that Amaran has been in theaters for more than two weeks, while Kanguva is only on its second day. The swift spread of mixed audience feedback about Kanguva seems to be impacting ticket sales, and if the trend continues, Amaran could establish a stronger lead, potentially holding its ground until Pushpa 2 arrives on December 5.
