The much-anticipated trailer for Amaran, featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, has finally been released. The film is set to bring the heart-wrenching story of Major Mukund Varadarajan to the big screen. Directed to honor the life of the brave officer who led the Indian Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles Cheetah Company, Amaran promises a powerful tribute to his sacrifice.
Set for release on October 31, 2024, just in time for Diwali, the trailer opens with a poignant line: “You do not choose 44 RR, but 44 RR chooses you.” This sets the tone for the heroism and dedication displayed by Major Mukund (played by Sivakarthikeyan). The trailer also offers a glimpse into the personal life of the decorated soldier, showcasing his family’s reaction to his military commitment and his love story with Indhu, played by Sai Pallavi.
Amaran, inspired by the real-life events documented in Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh’s book India’s Most Fearless, captures the deep emotional sacrifices made by Major Mukund and his family. A heart-tugging scene near the end of the trailer features Major Mukund’s daughter asking, “You told me appa will come for my birthday, will he come?” leaving viewers emotional.
Produced by Kamal Haasan, who expressed pride in bringing Major Mukund’s story to life, the film will be released in multiple languages: Nani presents the Telugu version, Tovino Thomas releases the Malayalam version, Shiva Rajkumar handles the Kannada release, and Aamir Khan is backing the Hindi version. The film encapsulates Major Mukund Varadarajan’s courageous service, his love for Indhu, and the personal losses endured in his journey.
