In preparation for the Sankranti festival, one of the biggest celebrations for Telugu people, APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) has announced special bus services to accommodate the heavy rush. To ease the journey for people traveling from Hyderabad to their native places in Andhra Pradesh, APSRTC will operate 2,400 special buses from January 9 to 13.
The APSRTC authorities confirmed that, in addition to the regular buses, these special services will operate at regular fare rates with no extra charges. They emphasized that there will be no additional fees for the Sankranti special buses.
For travelers going to specific districts, APSRTC has made certain arrangements. The MGBS (Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station) in Hyderabad typically experiences high passenger traffic, especially during the festive season. To ease the crowd, APSRTC has planned for Sankranti special buses to run from the Old CBS (Gowliguda) near MGBS from January 10 to 12. Passengers traveling to Ongole, Macharla, Nellore, Kurnool, Anantapur, and Chittoor are advised to use this new pickup point.
During every festival, travel-related hassles such as difficulty booking train tickets are common. This year, with many travelers opting for buses to avoid high train ticket charges, both the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana RTCs are running special services. However, the rise in private travel charges often causes frustration among passengers.
