Kollywood has been facing a downturn since the start of the year, primarily due to a lack of major film releases. However, a ray of hope emerged with Vijay’s “Ghilli” re-release, which helped exhibitors, and now “Aranmanai 4,” starring Tamannaah and Sundar C, is proving to be a blockbuster for distributors.
Although “Aranmanai 4” follows a familiar formula, the horror-comedy has surpassed 50 crore gross at the worldwide box office. Family audiences are flocking to theaters, filling seats across Tamil Nadu, and the movie has brought back “houseful” signs at theaters. In contrast, the Telugu-dubbed version, released as “Baak,” did not make as much of an impact.
Directed and written by Sundar C., “Aranmanai 4” also features Raashii Khanna, KGF Ramachandra, Kovai Sarala, Sreenivas Reddy, and Vennela Kishore in significant roles. Kollywood’s prospects are looking up as the upcoming release, “Star,” starring Kavin, is generating considerable excitement.
