Actor Arshad Warsi has broken his silence a month after facing backlash for his “joker” remark about Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD. In August, Arshad commented that Prabhas “was like a joker” in the film, which sparked criticism from fans.
At the IIFA Awards 2024, Arshad addressed the controversy for the first time, clarifying his statement. Speaking to the media, Arshad said, “Everyone has their own point of view, and people like to interpret things differently. I was talking about the character, not the person. Prabhas is a brilliant actor and has proved himself time and again. It’s heartbreaking for the audience when a good actor is given a bad character.”
Last month, on Samdish Bhatia’s podcast, Arshad was asked about the last bad film he watched. He mentioned Kalki 2898 AD, expressing disappointment with Prabhas’s portrayal, saying, “Prabhas, I am really sad. Why was he… he was like a joker. Why? I wanted to see a Mad Max, like Mel Gibson. What have they made of him? I just don’t understand why they do these things.”
