The vibrant Bathukamma festivities begin the day before Ashwayuja Shuddha Paadyami, on Bhadrapada Amavasya, and continue until Durgashtami. The celebrations, which start with Engili Pula Bathukamma, conclude on Durgashtami (October 10) with Saddula Bathukamma.
This festival is a prayer to Goddess Gauramma, seeking protection from diseases and droughts. Flowers are arranged in the shape of a Shiva Lingam and placed outside homes, where women sing and dance together with their neighbors. For nine days, Bathukamma brings joyful celebrations across Telangana. Not just those in the state, but even the Telangana women settled in other states and countries make sure to celebrate this beautiful festival.
This year, the Bathukamma celebrations, which started on October 2, will end on October 10. Send these quotes and song lyrics to wish your friends and family a Happy Saddula Bathukamma!
