Sivakarthikeyan’s patriotic action drama Amaran is on a remarkable run at the box office, already becoming the biggest hit of his career with over Rs. 250 crores in gross revenue. The film, which also stars Sai Pallavi as his romantic interest, is based on the inspiring life of Major Mukund Varadharajan.
The movie has been performing exceptionally well, especially during weekdays, surprising trade analysts with its strong hold. As a result, the makers have decided to delay the OTT release by one to two weeks. Initially scheduled for digital platforms in the first week of December, Amaran‘s digital release will now likely be postponed to accommodate its continued success in theaters. Netflix holds the post-theatrical streaming rights for the film.
Typically, Tamil films have a theatrical window of four weeks, and with Amaran continuing to perform well, the decision to extend the theatrical release is seen as a positive move. This will encourage more audiences to experience the film in cinemas. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Kamal Haasan, Sony Pictures International Productions, and R. Mahendran, Amaran features music composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
