Choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, better known as Jani Master, is facing serious allegations with an FIR registered against him for repeatedly sexually abusing a female colleague. The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) has addressed the matter, confirming that their sexual harassment redressal panel is currently investigating the complaint.
TFCC’s Statement on Jani Master
The TFCC acknowledged receiving a formal sexual harassment complaint against Jani Master from a choreographer who is a member of the Telugu Film & TV Dancers & Dance Directors Association. In their statement, they mentioned that the complaint has been referred to their internal sexual harassment redressal panel for further action. The TFCC also requested the media to protect the identity of the complainant, stating, “The internal complaints committee has convened, and the enquiry is proceeding according to the guidelines of the POSH Act 2013.” They confirmed that an FIR has been registered by the police, and the case is under investigation.
Details of the Case
According to PTI, the case was filed against Jani Master on Monday after a woman he worked with accused him of sexual assault, which allegedly occurred during outdoor shoots and at her home. The Raidurgam police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Narsingi police, where the complainant resides.
Jani Master’s Career and Political Involvement
Jani Master is renowned for choreographing hit songs in films such as Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Pushpa: The Rise, Varisu, Stree 2, and Khel Khel Mein. He was also involved with the Jana Sena Party, led by Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, during the state elections. However, following the allegations and FIR, the political party has released a statement asking Jani Master to distance himself from their activities in light of the ongoing police investigation.
