On Monday, the Congress party refuted claims of its involvement in the attack on actor Allu Arjun’s Hyderabad residence, which followed the tragic stampede at the Sandhya Theatre on December 4. The incident, which resulted in the death of a woman during the premiere of Pushpa 2, has sparked widespread controversy. Social media posts had linked the main suspect in the attack to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, though these claims remain unverified.
Congress spokesperson Sama Ram Mohan Reddy told NDTV, “None of the individuals involved belong to Congress. If there is any proof linking them to our party, they will face disqualification.” In response to the attack, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy condemned the act on social media, emphasizing that strict actions would be taken against those responsible. He directed the State DGP and City Police Commissioner to ensure there would be no laxity in law enforcement and to prevent any unjust actions by police officers unrelated to the Sandhya Theatre incident.
On Monday, six suspects, accused of vandalizing Allu Arjun’s residence, were granted bail after appearing in a Hyderabad court.
The attack took place on Sunday evening, when a group of individuals, identifying themselves as students from Osmania University, gathered outside Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills. The protesters, carrying placards, reportedly threw tomatoes and damaged flower pots. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for West Zone, Hyderabad, confirmed that some protesters climbed the compound wall and threw tomatoes at the residence, leading to the detention of six individuals from the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC).
According to the defense lawyer, Advocate Ramdas, the students had been protesting peacefully until police intervention escalated the situation, prompting the students to act in self-defense. Reports also indicate that the protesters clashed with security personnel and caused damage to flower pots and glass at the site. Visuals from the scene depicted shattered pots and broken glass, with allegations of stone-pelting near the actor’s home.
