Jr NTR’s highly anticipated action drama Devara has finally hit theaters, and it’s stirring up excitement among fans and critics alike. Released on September 27, 2024, the film, directed by Koratala Siva, features Jr NTR in dual roles alongside Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. Early reviews on social media are predominantly positive, though there are some mixed reactions.
Film critic Courtney Howard praised the movie, tweeting, “#Devara is an explosive, exhilarating & flat-out terrific adrenaline rush. It Goes Hard, bringing together giant-scale ferocity, pulse-quickening stakes & brawling action. N.T. Rama Rao Jr. brings the fire & charisma. FUN STUFF!”
Another fan on Twitter noted, “#Devara delivers solid mass moments, with @tarak9999’s intensity and @anirudhofficial’s score standing out. Koratala Siva keeps the energy high, though the character exploration could be deeper. Still, with its strong performances and score, it keeps you engaged.”
Fans of Jr NTR have lauded his performance, with one writing, “#JrNTR absolutely delivers a powerhouse performance. This is shaping up to be the next big South Indian blockbuster, right up there with Baahubali.”
While Devara has garnered significant praise, a few viewers expressed disappointment. One fan commented, “First half >>> second half, the second half feels a bit dull until the pre-climax, and the twist in the climax is disappointing. But #NTR & #Anirudh are at their peak performance.”
Another viewer was more critical, stating, “#Devara is disappointing. The story and visual effects didn’t meet expectations. NTR’s stellar performance is wasted, and Janhvi Kapoor’s role feels limited to songs.”
Another harsh review criticized the film, writing, “#Devara – 1.75/5. Koratala Siva’s story-telling is careless, with a weak conflict and predictable twist. Though Saif Ali Khan’s character is strong, the arc is weak. The much-hyped shark sequence falls flat.”
In Devara, Jr NTR plays dual roles as Devara and Varadha in a coastal conflict where power dynamics shift constantly. Saif Ali Khan portrays Bhaira, a wrestling master, whose world is disrupted by NTR’s character. Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead. The film is produced by Kosaraju Hari Krishna and Sudhakar Mikkilineni under the banners of NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts, and was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
