Dhee remains the best film in Manchu Vishnu’s career and is regarded as one of Tollywood’s most entertaining films. Very few movies manage to sustain laughter and engagement from start to finish, and Dhee is one such rare gem. Over the years, fans have eagerly anticipated a sequel, but before that, the makers have decided to re-release the film in theaters. However, the chosen release date couldn’t have been worse.
Dhee Re-Release Faces Stiff Competition
Directed by Sreenu Vaitla, Dhee is a film that still enjoys massive popularity, and its re-release could have drawn significant interest. However, the makers have picked March 28th for the re-release, a date that is overcrowded with major releases, making it an unfortunate choice.
A Clash with Multiple Big Films
The weekend of March 28th–30th is packed with highly anticipated films. On the same day as Dhee, two exciting Telugu films are hitting theaters—Robinhood and Mad Square. Additionally, on March 27th, the much-awaited Lucifer sequel, L2: Empuraan, and Chiyaan Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran 2 are releasing. If that wasn’t enough, Salman Khan’s big-ticket film Sikandar is arriving on March 30th for the Ramzan festival.
With this crowded lineup, Dhee is unlikely to secure a large number of screens, and audiences will have multiple fresh options to choose from. Instead of picking a less competitive release date, Manchu Vishnu and the team have made a strategic blunder, potentially limiting the film’s impact at the box office.
A Missed Opportunity for a Better Date
Had the makers chosen a less competitive period for the re-release, it could have performed much better, benefiting both the film and exhibitors. By opting for a date packed with new big-budget releases, they may have wasted the potential of Dhee, which still has a loyal fan base eager to experience it on the big screen again.
Only time will tell how this decision plays out, but given the competition, Dhee might struggle to make a mark in its re-release.
