Vijay Devarakonda’s action drama “Family Star” (2024) faced a disappointing run at the box office, resulting in significant losses for producer ‘Dil’ Raju. However, in a bid to recuperate some of the investment, Raju has devised a unique plan.
Typically, films that underperform at the box office opt for an early digital premiere on OTT platforms. However, “Family Star” is taking a different route by offering a rental option for viewers in both Tamil and Telugu languages. This unconventional approach aims to mitigate losses to some extent, offering an interesting twist to the traditional release strategy.
Directed by Parasuram Petla, the film features Mrunal Thakur as the female lead, with music composed by Gopi Sundar. It reunites Vijay with the director after their blockbuster collaboration in “Geetha Govindam” (2018). It remains to be seen how this innovative plan pans out for the film’s financial prospects.
