Fahadh Faasil’s latest release, “Aavesham,” has taken the box office by storm, crossing the 100 crores gross mark. In a recent interview, the acclaimed actor shed light on an intriguing aspect of the Malayalam film industry.
He remarked, “While the trade has expanded for Mollywood, we lack substantial support from streaming platforms. Unlike other regions where film rights are often sold even before production begins, our approach is distinct.”
Faasil elaborated, stating, “In our industry, we prioritize theatrical releases as a means to showcase the potential of our films. Only after proving our worth in cinemas do OTT platforms show interest in acquiring our content. This model shapes our cinematic landscape, emphasizing the importance of crafting compelling narratives and delivering high-quality content.”
Indeed, this distinctive approach underscores Mollywood’s commitment to storytelling and underscores the industry’s dedication to showcasing its creations on the big screen before exploring digital avenues.
