“Family Star,” starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, faced a disappointing fate at the box office, failing to live up to pre-release hype and expectations. The film, which garnered poor reviews from its initial screenings, struggled to regain traction and ultimately bombed at the box office.
Despite high hopes, “Family Star” managed to collect a meager share of around 15 crores worldwide, a shocking result considering its budget and anticipated business. Buyers incurred substantial losses, with investments plummeting by over 70%. The film’s weekend advance bookings failed to generate momentum, leading to a projected worldwide closing share of less than 18 crores, marking it as an outright disaster.
Scheduled to stream on Amazon Prime from May 3rd, “Family Star” features the dynamic pairing of Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, along with the much-anticipated collaboration between Parasuram and Vijay Deverakonda since “Geetha Govindam.” Despite efforts by producer Dil Raju and the team to drum up excitement, including trailer and song releases, the film failed to resonate with audiences. Negative word-of-mouth further compounded the film’s woes, resulting in a disastrous weekend performance and an embarrassing failure for “Family Star.”
