On Day 1 of its release, Gaami, Vishwak Sen’s directorial debut helmed by Vidyadhar Kagita, stormed into the box office with a promising start. The film, an adventure thriller with a unique premise, showcases Sen’s multifaceted talents as he not only stars in it but also delves into production, writing, and direction. Shot over a span of six years, Gaami finally graced the screens on March 8, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Maha Sivarathri.
Sen, known for his passion and dedication to his craft, opted not to take any remuneration for Gaami, a decision that has garnered him widespread acclaim along with the film’s cast and crew. Despite facing the unfortunate incident of online piracy post-release, Gaami continues to capture audiences’ attention with its gripping narrative.
The story revolves around Shankar, an orphan and an Aghora, who embarks on a perilous quest in search of Maali leaves, a remedy for a rare disorder. With these leaves appearing on Earth only once every 36 years, Shankar sees this as his sole opportunity to transform his life. His journey leads him to the daunting Dronagiri mountain in the Himalayas, setting the stage for an epic adventure.
Gaami has received rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike, marking a significant milestone in Vishwak Sen’s career. On its opening day, the film amassed approximately Rs 4.5 Crore at the box office, signaling a promising start and setting the stage for further success.
