Manikandan Career:
Initially rising to prominence as the runner-up in a popular reality comedy show, Manikandan ventured into the world of entertainment by becoming a Radio Jockey at an FM channel. Simultaneously, he lent his voice as a dubbing artist for numerous films and TV shows, showcasing his versatile skills.
Manikandan’s journey as a writer began with the acclaimed film “Pizza II: Villa” (2013), marking his debut in the industry. Transitioning to acting, he made his on-screen debut with “India Pakistan” (2015), followed by notable roles in films like “Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum” (2016) and “8 Thottakkal” (2017), where he portrayed diverse characters, including an antagonist.
His collaboration with esteemed directors Pushkar-Gayathri in “Vikram Vedha” (2017) further showcased his talent, as he not only penned dialogues but also portrayed a memorable role as a police constable. Subsequently, he gained recognition for his roles in films like “Kaala” (2018), “Viswasam” (2019), and “Thambi” (2019), where he contributed as a dialogue writer.
Manikandan’s versatility shone through in the romantic anthology “Sillu Karupatti” (2019), where he shared the screen with Nivedithaa Sathish, earning critical acclaim for his performance.
Venturing into direction, Manikandan helmed the independent film “Narai Ezhuthum Suyasaritham” (English Title: Endless), featuring himself and veteran actor Delhi Ganesh. The film garnered attention at prestigious film festivals like the Bengaluru International Film Festival (2016) and the New York Indian Film Festival (2016).
In recent years, Manikandan has continued to impress audiences with his acting prowess, notably in films like “Jai Bhim” (2021), where his portrayal of Rajakannu received widespread acclaim. His role as the lead in the movie “Good Night” (2023) further solidified his status as an audience favorite, showcasing his ability to captivate viewers with his performances.
