Fathers and father figures hold a very special place in our lives. They are often considered the true ‘superheroes’ of every child, never asking for anything in return for their unwavering love and dedication. Beyond being parents, they fulfill multiple roles in our lives, including mentor, friend, and guide. Around the world, fathers exemplify dedication, resilience, and an unyielding commitment to their families. To honor their profound influence and vital role in families and society, Father’s Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of June. While we may not express our love and gratitude to our parents every day, such occasions are important reminders of how special they are and an opportunity to appreciate all they do for us.

Father’s Day 2024 History
The origin of Father’s Day can be traced back to the early 20th century in the United States, with credit given to Sonora Smart Dodd from Spokane, Washington. Inspired by Mother’s Day, Dodd conceived the idea of honoring her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran who single-handedly raised six children after the passing of their mother.
In 1972, U.S. President Richard Nixon signed a proclamation officially recognizing Father’s Day as a national holiday. Thanks to Dodd’s efforts, many countries now observe Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June each year.
