Flight services have resumed at Hyderabad airport following a global IT outage that affected airline systems on Friday. The Civil Aviation Ministry is closely monitoring airport and airline operations to ensure that travel adjustments and refunds are managed efficiently.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu announced, “Since 3 AM on Saturday, airline systems at airports have returned to normal. Flight operations are now proceeding smoothly.”
The massive IT outage, one of the largest in recent history, was triggered by an update from global cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which caused widespread issues with Microsoft’s Windows platform. This disruption impacted various sectors, including finance and airlines, and led to the postponement of hospital operations and interruptions to television broadcasts.
Hyderabad airport, along with other airports nationwide, experienced significant disruptions. Online booking, reservation, and boarding systems had to switch to manual processes, resulting in numerous flight cancellations and delays. The backlog from Friday’s disruptions is being addressed and cleared progressively.
