Hyderabad: Owners of 19 Betting Apps Added as Suspects in Tollywood Betting Case

The Miyapur police have expanded their investigation into the betting apps case involving popular Tollywood actors and social media influencers by adding the owners of 19 betting applications to the list of suspects.

Authorities have issued notices to these app owners and have initiated a detailed probe. If necessary, similar notices may also be sent to the actors and influencers associated with the case.

Recently, the Miyapur police registered cases against 25 film actors and social media personalities for promoting these betting platforms. The latest development includes a memo submitted to the court, emphasizing the police’s focus on gathering evidence regarding the involvement of these celebrities.

The investigation is centered on violations under the Telangana Gaming Act, with law enforcement finalizing procedures to summon app organizers. Reports indicate that these applications were heavily promoted by celebrities and influencers through social media platforms and pop-up advertisements, with many receiving substantial commissions and remuneration in return.

Among those facing allegations for endorsing these illegal betting apps are well-known film stars, including Daggubati Rana, Vijay Deverakonda, and Prakash Raj, along with several prominent social media influencers. As the probe intensifies, authorities continue to scrutinize their roles in promoting these apps.
