Indian 2 Overseas Advance Bookings: Underwhelming Reception Ahead of Release

Indian 2, the highly anticipated film starring legendary actor Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar, has completed all necessary formalities and is set for a global release on July 12th. Despite recent pre-release events and the commencement of overseas advance bookings, early indicators suggest a lukewarm reception.

Known for their significant presence in the Tamil film industry, Indian 2, bearing the Shankar-Kamal Haasan duo, has struggled to generate substantial buzz due to insufficient promotional efforts. In North America, the film has secured $350K in advance bookings, with an additional $300K from other countries, totaling $650K. This figure pales in comparison to previous Tamil blockbusters, which typically open with a minimum of $4 million. For instance, last year’s Vijay-starrer Leo opened with $8 million.

To bolster anticipation, the team is focusing on additional promotional activities, including interviews and the release of new trailers. The stakes are high, especially with Indian 3 already in the pipeline, necessitating a strong performance from Indian 2.
