International Anti-Corruption Day 2024: Uniting with Youth Against Corruption

On 9 December 2024, the world will observe International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD) under the theme “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.” This year’s campaign underscores the critical role of young people in the fight against corruption and aims to empower them as leaders of integrity for a brighter future.

Youth in Focus: A Path to Integrity

The 2024 campaign highlights the importance of including youth in anti-corruption efforts by providing them with platforms to voice their concerns and solutions. These efforts will culminate in the eleventh session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (CoSP11) in Doha, Qatar, in 2025. There, youth representatives will present their calls to action directly to global leaders, advocating for a corruption-free future.

Call to Action for Civil Society

Civil society organizations play a pivotal role in fostering transparency and accountability. Here’s how your NGO can participate:

  1. Mobilize and Network:
    • Organize events (in-person, hybrid, or virtual) with government and community stakeholders.
    • Distribute campaign materials and set up petitions urging stronger anti-corruption measures.
    • Inform the organizers about your activities in advance.
  2. Raise Awareness and Advocate:
    • Publish articles, letters, and newsletters.
    • Participate in interviews and discussions on radio or TV platforms.
  3. Engage on Social Media:
    • Use the IACD logo as profile pictures and amplify the campaign through hashtags #UnitedAgainstCorruption and #IACD2024.

Share Your Impact

UNODC encourages NGOs to share details of their activities for IACD 2024 by emailing unodc-ngounit@un.org or messaging @UNODCCSU on X. Selected stories will be featured on the UNODC website and social media channels.

By joining forces with youth, civil society, and global leaders, we can pave the way for a future where integrity prevails and corruption is a thing of the past.
