After the success of Raja Raja Chora, actor Sree Vishnu, director Hasith Goli, and People Media Factory have teamed up once again to bring us Swag, a film set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. The film has been generating a lot of buzz ahead of its release. In a recent interview, Sree Vishnu shared his thoughts on the film, his roles, and what audiences can expect.
What does the title Swag mean, and what’s the film about?
According to Sree Vishnu, “Swag means ‘welcome to the Swaganika family.'” The team opted for this short title instead of something longer. The film is set in the 1500s and delves into the clash between matriarchy and patriarchy within a family. The narrative poses a compelling question: “Who is greater, the male or the female?” Vishnu expressed confidence in the film’s story, as Telugu audiences have been open to new and unique narratives.
Tell us about your role.
In Swag, Sree Vishnu plays four distinct characters from the same family, marking his first time taking on dual roles, let alone four. He described it as a challenge but ultimately rewarding. The movie, designed to resonate with both younger and older audiences, imparts valuable lessons about heritage and ancestors. Vishnu believes that the film will be remembered as one of the top highlights of his career, and he praised the director for condensing such a grand story into just over two and a half hours.
What about Ritu Varma’s character?
Ritu Varma’s character goes through a significant transformation over the course of the film. Vishnu hinted that her character arc will leave a lasting impression on the audience, especially women.
Which character was the toughest to portray?
Of the four characters, Vishnu found Singa the easiest to play. However, the other three were more challenging due to their distinct costumes, makeup, and dialogue delivery. The extensive makeup process was grueling, but the positive response to the Razor teaser made it all worth it. With Swag portraying four generations, the screenplay is designed to be engaging and easy to follow, ensuring the audience isn’t confused.
How was your experience working with composer Vivek Sagar?
This marks Sree Vishnu’s third collaboration with composer Vivek Sagar. The songs are tailored perfectly to the film’s situations, while the background score is set to enhance the cinematic experience in theaters.
What should audiences expect from Swag?
