Tollywood star Jr. NTR has turned to the Telangana High Court for assistance in a dispute over a property in Jubilee Hills, where he currently resides with his family. The issue dates back to 2003 when NTR purchased a 681-square-yard plot in Jubilee Hills from Sunku Geetha Lakshmi. Unbeknownst to him, Geetha Lakshmi had created fake documents and mortgaged the plot to secure loans from various banks.
After the banks approached the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), the tribunal ruled in their favor, allowing them to take possession of the property. Consequently, NTR sought the High Court’s intervention. A vacation bench, comprising Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao, questioned why NTR approached the High Court instead of using the appellate remedy through the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT).
NTR’s lawyer cited a technical error in the DRT order, prompting the bench to request the docket order by June 3. The next hearing is scheduled for June 6. Geetha Lakshmi did not disclose the loans she had obtained from multiple banks when selling the property to NTR
