The latest release, KA, starring Telugu actor Kiran Abbavaram, has been captivating audiences as a suspenseful period drama directed by the duo Sujeet and Sandeep. Featuring Nayan Sarika and Tanvi Ram as the female leads, the movie was presented by Chinta Varalakshmi and produced by Gopala Krishna Reddy under the banner of Sri Chakras Entertainment. Set against a village backdrop, this thriller hit theaters on October 31, 2024, as a Diwali special and received positive feedback. Curious about how much KA has collected to date and how it fared on its 12th day? Let’s delve into the details.
Released during Diwali, KA has faced strong competition from big-budget films like Amaran and Lucky Basker. Despite the rivalry, KA opened to a great response, marking a significant comeback for Kiran Abbavaram. While weekend collections have been impressive, collections have slowed slightly during weekdays. However, releases in the previous week haven’t had much impact on KA, which continues to pull solid numbers at the box office.
On its opening day, KA earned ₹3.8 crores at the Indian box office, with overseas collections bringing the total to ₹6.18 crores. On the second day, it grossed ₹3 crores, and on the third day, ₹3.75 crores. The fourth day saw its highest single-day earnings at ₹3.75 crores, securing KA as Kiran Abbavaram’s biggest hit to date. By the end of the first weekend, the movie had achieved impressive records. However, collections began to slow from day five, with ₹1.60 crores on the fifth day, ₹1.50 crores on the sixth, ₹1.2 crores on the seventh, and ₹0.8 crores on the eighth day. Still, the movie gained momentum again over the weekend, pulling ₹1.02 crores on the ninth day, ₹1.80 crores on the tenth, and ₹1.95 crores on the eleventh.
KA performed exceptionally well over the weekend with increased theatre occupancy and collections. However, collections dropped again on Monday. According to trade reports, KA collected approximately ₹0.75 crores on its 12th day at the Indian box office, bringing its total net earnings to ₹24.10 crores domestically and around ₹43 crores gross worldwide.
In terms of Day 12 occupancy rates across Telugu states on November 11, 2024, morning shows registered an occupancy of 13.52%, afternoons at 15.72%, evening shows at 13.76%, and night shows at 17.68%, resulting in an overall occupancy of 15.17%.
As of now, it seems KA’s theatrical run may be winding down, especially with the impending release of Matka starring Varun Tej and Suriya’s Kanguva on November 14. If these films receive positive reviews, they are expected to dominate the box office. Only time will reveal the final fate of KA as it competes against these upcoming blockbusters.
