“Kalki 2898 AD” had a strong opening day on June 27, earning ₹95.3 crore. However, it saw a dip on its first Friday, bringing in ₹59.3 crore. The film’s business picked up over the weekend, with Saturday earnings of ₹66.2 crore and Sunday seeing a significant increase to ₹88.2 crore. Throughout the week, the collections dropped: ₹34.15 crore on Monday, ₹27.05 crore on Tuesday, ₹22.7 crore on Wednesday, ₹21.8 crore on Thursday, and finally ₹16.9 crore on the second Friday, totaling ₹431.75 crore.
Director Nag Ashwin has been hinting at details about the film’s sequel since its release. The film’s ending sets up a potential war between characters Ashwatthama, Karna, and Supreme Yaskin, teasing more to come. At a press meet in Hyderabad, Ashwin explained that he chose to divide the film into two parts due to the complexity of exploring four major characters in a single movie. He also revealed that the sequel will explore new worlds beyond Kashi, Shambala, and Complex shown in the first film. However, only a small portion of the sequel has been shot so far, meaning audiences will have to wait for the next installment.
