The makers of Kalki 2898 AD had announced a sequel well in advance, with reports indicating that portions of the second part were filmed during the production of the first, as the elaborate sets were scheduled to be dismantled. Director Nag Ashwin requires significant time to reconstruct the intricate sets for the sequel. After the release of the initial installment, Nag Ashwin gathered audience feedback and is now revising the script to incorporate crucial changes.
Initially, the filming for Kalki 2 was planned to commence in 2025 but has been postponed to 2026. Lead actor Prabhas has a packed schedule with projects like Raja Saab, Fauji, and Spirit awaiting completion.
As per the latest updates, the shooting for Kalki 2 is expected to begin in the latter half of 2026. Nag Ashwin is finalizing the script while coordinating the schedules of high-profile actors like Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas. The sequel will be produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, maintaining the grandeur of the original with the same core technical team on board.
