The team behind Kalki 2898 AD is thrilled with the film’s positive reception and impressive business success worldwide. With the sequel promising to be even grander, director Nag Ashwin is set to commence filming this year. Reports indicate that nearly 60 percent of the sequel’s shoot is already complete.
Deepika Padukone, who plays a crucial role in the film, is currently expecting her baby this year. She is slated to have significant screen presence in the sequel as well. It remains unclear whether the team will pause production to accommodate Deepika’s maternity break or if Nag Ashwin will modify the script to adapt to the situation.
Based on feedback from the first installment, Nag Ashwin is planning several changes for the sequel, including reshooting some portions once the final script is locked. Additionally, Ashwin needs to secure the schedules of the film’s other busy actors, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, and will align these with Deepika’s return. The sequel to Kalki 2898 AD is expected to release in 2026
