After an impressive second weekend, “Kalki 2898 AD” saw a decline in collections this week. Yesterday, in the Telugu states, the share fell to less than Rs 1 Cr. Collections in other languages also dipped slightly. Despite this, the film remains a massive success, having grossed significantly in both domestic and overseas markets.
The question now is whether it will join the exclusive Rs 1000 Cr club. Currently, this seems challenging as “Kalki 2898 AD” has grossed around 840 Cr so far. Reaching the 1000 Cr mark, which requires an additional 160 Cr, appears difficult. With “Indian 2” releasing on July 12th, it will be interesting to see how this Prabhas starrer performs in its third weekend.
If “Indian 2” opens to positive word of mouth, it could hinder “Kalki 2898 AD’s” chances of joining the 1000 Cr club. However, considering the current buzz and lack of widespread interest in “Indian 2,” the film will need exceptional word of mouth and positive reviews to make a strong start and affect “Kalki’s” box office run.
