The tale of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s life is set to mesmerize audiences with a biopic starring Dhanush in the lead role. Capturing the essence of the composer’s journey and his ascent to legendary status, this film promises to be a riveting exploration of musical genius.
Excitement soared when Kamal Haasan, at a recent tribute to director Singeetham Sreenivas Rao, announced his involvement in crafting the screenplay for this project. This declaration has reignited anticipation among Kamal’s fans, marking his triumphant return to the realm of writing since the release of Vishwaroopam 2 in 2018.
Kamal Haasan, known for his multifaceted talents, has not only graced the screen but also wielded the pen for many of his cinematic endeavors. Additionally, he’s lending his creative touch to the scripting of his upcoming venture ‘Thug Life,’ helmed by the esteemed Mani Ratnam.
Directed by Arun Matheshwaran, the visionary behind Dhanush’s portrayal in ‘Captain Miller,’ and with cinematography by Nirav Shah, the biopic promises a visual treat. Adding to the authenticity, the musical arrangements will be crafted by none other than the maestro himself.
Titled ‘Ilaiyaraaja,’ the biopic is slated for a pan-India release, featuring cameo appearances from notable Tamil stars. The recently unveiled poster sets the tone, depicting Dhanush immersed in character, stepping into the nostalgic ambiance of old Madras, with the tagline ‘The King of Music’ echoing the legend’s enduring legacy.
