Despite past tensions, Kangana Ranaut has expressed admiration for Jaya Bachchan, calling her one of the most “dignified” women in the film industry. In an interview with News18, Kangana praised Jaya’s contributions, especially her role in empowering women through films like Guddi during the 1970s. Kangana acknowledged Jaya’s reputed short temper but lauded her for the way she carries herself in the Rajya Sabha, saying, “I feel very good that we have this kind of representation from the film industry.”
Kangana also addressed their past disagreements, particularly after Jaya’s 2020 statement in Parliament following the controversy surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Kangana said, “If she said something to us, we should take it in stride.”
Jaya Bachchan’s illustrious career began with Satyajit Ray’s Mahanagar (1963), and she made her Hindi film debut in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi (1971). Over the years, she starred in iconic films like Zanjeer, Sholay, Mili, Abhimaan, and Silsila alongside Amitabh Bachchan. She made a successful return to cinema with Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in the early 2000s and was last seen in the 2023 hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Jaya is also a Padma Shri recipient and an active Rajya Sabha member
