Kanguva: DSP Faces Massive Trolling Over Background Score

Suriya’s latest film Kanguva, which released on November 14th, has not managed to meet the expectations set by its star power and promotional buzz. Despite a strong opening in the Telugu states, where the film earned over ₹5 crore on its first day, the response has been largely underwhelming, especially in terms of audience reception.

The primary area of contention among viewers has been the music, particularly the background score and re-recording by renowned music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP). Many fans and critics have voiced their displeasure, describing the score as excessively loud and overwhelming, which has led to a barrage of criticism. While both DSP and Suriya are facing some backlash, the music director is bearing the brunt of the trolling. In Tamil Nadu, where the film was expected to perform strongly, the dissatisfaction has been more pronounced, with audiences questioning Suriya’s involvement in the project.

In an attempt to address the grievances, reports indicate that the makers have already corrected the re-recording issues. However, it seems the damage may have already been done, as the film’s reception continues to suffer. Directed by Siva, Kanguva had hoped to build on the success of Suriya’s previous works, but it now faces an uphill battle with the negative word of mouth.
