Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar recently participated in a masterclass on Women’s Safety in Cinema at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, held in Goa. The panel, featuring notable personalities like Imtiaz Ali, Bhumi Pednekar, Suhasini Maniratnam, and Vani Tripathi Tikoo, focused on addressing the challenges women face in the film industry and beyond.
Khushbu’s Stand on Speaking Up
During the discussion, Khushbu emphasized the importance of women raising their voices against mistreatment. She stated, “Challenges for women exist everywhere, not just in the film industry. They happen in share autos, local trains, or even flights. I urge women to speak up when someone mistreats them. Don’t let concerns about your career or potential troubles stop you.”
Khushbu also shared a personal experience from her early career, recalling how a lead actor propositioned her. She responded boldly by holding up her footwear and saying, “I wear a size 41. Would you like to be slapped here or in front of the entire unit?” Her resolute action highlighted the importance of self-respect, inspiring women to prioritize their dignity over professional fears.

With a career spanning over four decades, Khushbu has appeared in numerous films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema since her debut as a child artist in 1980.
