Prithviraj Sukumaran is determined to make L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and himself, a true pan-India spectacle. However, the film faced resistance in North India from certain broadcasters and multiplex chains. Despite this, the overwhelming demand ensured that L2 secured an impressive ₹10 crore in early bookings. Film analysts predict it could become the biggest Malayalam opener in the North.
Interestingly, L2: Empuraan will be competing with Sikandar, Chhaava, and the re-release of Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire. While Salman Khan is eyeing a strong comeback with AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar, releasing on Eid, industry insiders suggest the makers are wary of L2’s pre-booking momentum. Although Sikandar boasts Salman’s star power, his recent box office performance has left audiences cautious, making early reviews crucial for the film’s success.
Meanwhile, Chhaava is racing toward a ₹600 crore milestone, despite facing violent disturbances in Mumbai. With such fierce competition, it remains to be seen which film will emerge as the ultimate box-office winner.
