Celebrated for breaking records and achieving blockbuster status in Malayalam cinema, “Manjummel Boys” now finds itself embroiled in controversy. Despite its success in Telugu states and a positive reception for its Telugu version, the survival thriller is making headlines for unfavorable reasons.
The Ernakulam Sub Court has issued a directive to freeze the bank accounts of the film’s producers, including Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony, associated with Parava Films. This action follows a petition filed by Siraj Waliyathara Hameed, who claims to have invested Rs 7 crore in the film with the promise of a 40% profit share but alleges being deceived.
According to the petition, “Manjummel Boys” grossed Rs 220 crore worldwide and earned an additional Rs 20 crore from OTT platforms. A court notice has been served to Soubin Shahir, the owner of Parava Films, and a response from the producers is awaited.
Despite its legal woes, the survival thriller, starring Sreenath Bhasi and Soubin Shahir, emerged as an industry hit in Malayalam, delivering exceptional performance across all territories of its release.
