Tainted Tollywood choreographer Jani Master, who was recently booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually assaulting his assistant choreographer, has suffered a major setback. The Government of India has revoked his National Award for Best Choreography, which he had won for the Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam, starring Dhanush, Nithya Menen, and Raashi Khanna. The National Awards ceremony is set to take place on October 8 in New Delhi.
In September, a young woman filed a sexual assault case against Jani Master with the Narsingi Police. Following the incident, Jani went into hiding but was later arrested in Goa and presented before a local court. He was placed in 14-day judicial custody, which ended on October 3.
Recently, Jani, also known as Shaik Jani Basha, secured interim bail to attend the 70th National Awards ceremony. The Rangareddy court granted him bail from October 6 until 10:30 AM on October 10, with sureties of Rs 2 lakh each. However, with his National Award now revoked, his interim bail could also face cancellation by the court.
