Unni Mukundhan’s action-packed thriller Marco has shaken Malayalam cinema with its intense visuals and brutal violence. This film, which has been labeled as Malayalam’s most violent to date, has created history by becoming the first A-rated Malayalam movie to surpass the ₹100 crore mark, grossing over ₹115 crores worldwide.
Initially, rumors suggested that Netflix had secured the digital rights for this blockbuster. However, the makers refuted these claims. The latest update reveals that Sony LIV has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for Marco at a record-breaking price, making it the highest OTT deal ever in Mollywood. While the official streaming date remains under wraps, the release of Marco in Kannada is expected to slightly delay its digital debut.
Directed by Haneef Adeni and produced by Shareef Muhammed under the Cubes Entertainments banner, Marco boasts a stellar cast, including Siddique, Jagadish, Abhimanyu S Thilakan, Kabir Duhan Singh, Anson Paul, and Yukti Tareja. The electrifying music by Ravi Basrur has added to the film’s appeal. Excitingly, a sequel to Marco has been confirmed and is currently in the scripting phase, promising more action-packed thrills in the future.
