Released on June 27 amid unprecedented hype and expectations, “Kalki 2898 AD,” the mega-budget sci-fi drama starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, has achieved a significant milestone on its fourth day of release. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film has triumphantly entered the exclusive Rs 500 crore club worldwide.
On Sunday night, the producers of “Kalki 2898 AD” took to X to officially announce the film’s entry into the Rs 500 crore club. This achievement makes “Kalki” the fifth highest-grossing Telugu movie of all time, following only “Baahubali: The Conclusion,” “RRR,” “Salaar Part 1,” and “Baahubali: The Beginning.” Remarkably, four of the top five highest-grossing Telugu films feature Prabhas in the lead role.
“Kalki” is expected to enter the Rs 1,000 crore club by the end of its first week at the global box office. Whether the film can break into the Rs 1,500 crore elite club will depend on its box office performance starting Monday.
The film also stars Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Sobhana, Disha Patani, Anna Ben, and Pasupathy in key roles, with special cameos by Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Malavika Nair, and others. “Kalki 2898 AD” is produced by veteran filmmaker Ashwini Dutt, with music composed by acclaimed Kollywood composer Santhosh Narayanan.
