Young Telugu producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, known for his candid opinions, has sparked a heated discussion online following his satirical comments on Bollywood. During a roundtable conversation featuring prominent Indian filmmakers like Boney Kapoor, Archana (producer of The GOAT), and actor Siddharth, Vamsi openly critiqued Bollywood’s approach to filmmaking.

In the conversation, Vamsi pointed out to Boney Kapoor that Bollywood still appears trapped in stereotypical narratives, whereas South Indian filmmakers are charting a new course. Kapoor, however, disagreed, asserting that Hindi cinema is also exploring innovative storytelling. Vamsi countered by highlighting examples of blockbuster successes such as RRR, Baahubali, Pushpa, Salaar, and Animal—all products of South Indian creators.

The debate escalated when Vamsi remarked that Bollywood continues to cater primarily to audiences in elite pockets like Bandra and Juhu, while South Indian filmmakers are redefining Indian cinema on a broader scale. This comment reportedly left Boney Kapoor visibly annoyed.

As expected, social media users are divided on the issue. While some applauded Vamsi for his blunt honesty, others criticized his tone, suggesting he could have conveyed his views more respectfully. The conversation has reignited discussions about the evolving dynamics of Indian cinema and the contributions of South Indian filmmakers to the global stage.
