Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s latest film Thandel has been performing exceptionally well at the box office, surpassing the ₹40 crore mark within just five days of its release. To celebrate this success, the makers hosted a grand success meet on Tuesday, attended by the cast and crew. The event’s highlight was the presence of Nagarjuna Akkineni, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.
During the event, Nagarjuna expressed his immense joy over the film’s reception. He admitted that he had not anticipated such an overwhelming response on the release day, as he was in New Delhi at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office along with his family. Sharing his experience, he said, “It’s been a long time since I attended a success meet. I am extremely happy. I didn’t carry my phone with me that day, so I had no idea how the public was reacting to Thandel. After our meeting, I switched on my phone and was flooded with calls and messages. That’s when I realized how much Akkineni fans had embraced this film and celebrated its success.”
Nagarjuna also showered praise on his son, Naga Chaitanya, for his outstanding performance in the film. He said, “I am incredibly happy for Chaitanya. Seeing that smile on his face after so long makes me proud. Throughout the film, he stayed true to his character, delivering an exceptional performance. There were many scenes where he truly excelled, reminding me of my father. I have seen my dad give such performances in numerous films, and Chaitanya brought back those memories.”
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel features Naga Chaitanya in the role of a fisherman from Srikakulam, with Sai Pallavi playing the female lead. The film is based on a real-life incident involving Indian fishermen who unknowingly crossed into Pakistani waters. Produced by Bunny Vasu under the banner of Geetha Arts and presented by Allu Aravind, Thandel was initially slated for a Sankranthi release but was later postponed to February 7.
With its gripping storyline and powerful performances, Thandel continues to win hearts and achieve remarkable box office success, further cementing Naga Chaitanya’s position in the industry.
