National Civil Service Day is celebrated in India every year on April 21.
This is mainly celebrated to acknowledge the work of officers engaged in various public service departments in the country.
The foundation of civil services was laid by the first governor-general of India, Warren Hasting.
Charles Cornwallis, later recognised as the “Father of Civil Services in India.”
Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the first home minister of India, referred to civil servants as the “steel frame of India.”
Significance:
The main aim of this day is to recognise the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our country’s civil servants in serving the nation.
This day gives us opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate civil servants for maintaining law and order, promoting social justice, and ensuring good governance.
