After a four-year hiatus, Nazriya Nazim returns to Mollywood with the suspense thriller Sookshmadarshini, directed by MC Jithin. Starring Basil Joseph as the male lead, the film hit theaters yesterday to positive reviews and is off to a strong box office start.
In its opening day in Kerala, Sookshmadarshini grossed approximately Rs. 1.6 crores, marking a promising debut. As the film gained momentum with excellent word-of-mouth, audience occupancy increased, particularly in the evening and night shows. Although its release was limited in the USA, the film earned over $30K on its first day, with further expansion expected in this market.
With buzz continuing to build, Sookshmadarshini is selling around 7,000 tickets per hour on the BMS portal as it enters day two. Made on a modest budget, the film has strong potential to be a blockbuster, with its weekend performance offering more insight into its longevity. The real test will come on the first Monday, when the film’s sustained box office appeal will be clearer.
Produced by cinematographers Shyju Khalid and Sameer Tahir, alongside AV Anoop, the movie features an ensemble cast including Deepak Parambol, Sidharth Bharathan, Merin Philip, Akhila Bhargavan, and Pooja Mohanraj. Christo Xavier provides the music for this gripping thriller.
