Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt, known as one of the finest performers in the industry, has returned with her latest emotional action drama, Jigra. Directed by the talented Vasan Bala, the film hit theaters yesterday. However, initial reviews have been less than favorable for this Alia Bhatt starrer. Jigra, centered around a prison break theme, has been criticized for being repetitive and lacking novelty.
The film faced backlash for its slow-paced screenplay and overly extended runtime. In a recent update, it has been revealed that Netflix has secured the post-theatrical streaming rights for this Karan Johar production, as indicated during the film’s opening credits. The movie is set to make its OTT debut eight weeks after its theatrical release.
Box office estimates suggest Jigra is on track to open with around Rs. 5 crores nett in the domestic market, though it is expected to see a boost today due to the Dussehra holiday. The storyline follows a sister who goes to extreme lengths to protect her brother, with Vedang Raina portraying Alia’s on-screen sibling.
The film also features key performances from Aditya Nanda, Manoj Pahwa, and Rahul Ravindran. Produced by Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra was simultaneously released in Telugu, with Asian Suresh Entertainment handling distribution for the dubbed version.
