Konidela Pawan Kalyan, originally Konidela Kalyan Babu, born on September 2, 1968 or 1971, is a multifaceted personality in Indian cinema, politics, and philanthropy. Renowned for his distinct acting style and mannerisms, he enjoys a massive fan base and a devoted following. As one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema, he has consistently appeared on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list since 2013. His accolades include a Filmfare Award, a SIIMA Award, a CineMAA Award, and a Santosham Film Award. Beyond his cinematic endeavors, he is the founder of the Jana Sena Party.

Kalyan made his silver screen debut in the 1996 film “Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi,” but it was his roles in “Gokulamlo Seeta” (1997) and “Suswagatham” (1998) that propelled him to fame. His performance in “Tholi Prema” (1998) earned him acclaim, winning the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. Born as Konidela Kalyan Babu on September 2, 1971, into a Telugu family to Konidela Venkata Rao and Anjana Devi in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, Kalyan is the younger sibling of Chiranjeevi and Nagendra Babu. The moniker “Pawan” was bestowed upon him during one of his public martial arts displays. Possessing a black belt in karate, he showcases his proficiency in various martial arts. Additionally, he is the uncle of actors Ram Charan, Varun Tej, Sai Dharam Tej, and Allu Arjun.

Pawan Kalyan Marriages & Children:

In 1997, Kalyan tied the knot with Nandini, just a year after his debut in films. However, by 2001, he entered into a live-in relationship with his co-star Renu Desai, with whom he welcomed their son Akira Nandan in 2004. This transition stirred controversy, leading to Nandini filing a bigamy case against Kalyan in June 2007, alleging that he had remarried without obtaining a divorce. Kalyan refuted these claims, asserting that he hadn’t married Desai. Eventually, a magistrate court in Visakhapatnam cleared him of the charge due to insufficient evidence.

In July 2007, Kalyan initiated divorce proceedings against Nandini at a family court in Visakhapatnam, citing her alleged desertion immediately after their marriage, a claim contested by her lawyer. Praja Rajyam Party:

Kalyan commenced his political journey in 2008 as the president of Yuvarajyam, the youth wing of the Praja Rajyam Party, founded by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. Although he didn’t contest elections or hold any official post, he actively campaigned for the party despite facing health challenges. During a roadshow in Vizag on April 19, 2009, he suffered from sunstroke, experiencing bouts of vomiting. However, his political involvement took a hiatus in 2011 when Chiranjeevi merged the party with the Congress, prompting Kalyan to express his disagreement with the decision. In 2014, he embarked on a new political journey by establishing the Jana Sena Party.

Jana Sena Party:

On March 14, 2014, Kalyan founded the Jana Sena Party and authored a book titled “Ism,” outlining the party’s ideology. He engaged in discussions with Narendra Modi, then the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, addressing concerns pertinent to the Telugu states and extending his support. He vigorously campaigned for the TDP-BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, advocating the slogan “Congress Hatao, Desh Bachao” (meaning “Stop Congress, Save the Country” in Hindi). His rallies garnered immense crowds in both states.

Kalyan actively addressed various issues, including the Uddanam kidney disease crisis, through protests and hunger strikes, prompting government action. He announced the Jana Sena Party’s intent to contest the 2019 general elections in Andhra Pradesh, planning to field candidates in all 175 constituencies independently. He also voiced opposition to the central government’s privatization efforts and led protests against farmer distress and land pooling decisions.

During his campaign for the 2019 elections, Kalyan faced health setbacks but resumed his activities after receiving medical treatment. Despite contesting in Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram constituencies and losing to candidates from the YSR Congress Party, his party secured a victory in the Razole constituency.

In November 2019, Kalyan led a march in Visakhapatnam in support of construction workers facing unemployment due to sand shortages in Andhra Pradesh. In January 2020, he announced an alliance between the Jana Sena Party and the BJP for the upcoming 2024 elections. Additionally, he demanded a CBI inquiry into the brutal rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Kurnool, leading a rally for justice.
