Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has stated that the law should treat everyone equally, refusing to criticize Telangana Police for their action against actor Allu Arjun following the Sandhya Theatre stampede incident in Hyderabad. Speaking at Mangalagiri, Mr. Kalyan emphasized the importance of prioritizing public safety and suggested that the theater staff could have been more proactive in managing the situation.
The incident, which occurred on December 4 during Allu Arjun’s visit to a screening of Pushpa 2, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and injuries to her son. Hyderabad police registered a case against the actor, who was later arrested and granted bail.
Mr. Kalyan, leader of the Janasena Party and a relative of Allu Arjun, expressed regret that no one from the actor’s team visited the victim’s family earlier. He stated that such gestures of empathy and support could have mitigated public outrage. “There should have been a sense of humanity. The absence of such a gesture led to public anger,” he remarked.
The Deputy CM also defended Allu Arjun, stating that cinema is a collaborative effort, and holding the actor solely responsible is unfair. He praised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his balanced response to the tragedy, describing him as a “great leader” who has supported the film industry while maintaining law and order.
The Sandhya Theatre stampede has sparked widespread debate, with opinions divided on whether Allu Arjun should bear responsibility. Meanwhile, a delegation from the Telugu film industry met CM Revanth Reddy, who assured them of his support but reaffirmed that there would be no compromise on law enforcement.
