The Malayalam blockbuster “Premalu” is on the verge of crossing the coveted ₹100 crore milestone, following its release last month to widespread acclaim and a remarkable audience reception. Garnering positive critical feedback, the romantic comedy-drama has amassed approximately ₹87 crore gross worldwide within 25 days, with Kerala contributing around ₹46 crore, poised to enter the ₹50 crore league.
Few Malayalam films have reached such heights, making “Premalu’s” feat, particularly with a cast of newcomers, a monumental achievement. Internationally, the film has grossed over $4 million, equivalent to approximately ₹35 crore.
With its impending entry into the ₹100 crore club, “Premalu” is set for another milestone. Its Telugu version is slated for release on March 8th, with the distribution handled by Karthikeya, son of renowned director Rajamouli. This marks the film’s fifth venture from Mollywood to reach this milestone, following the successes of “Puli Murugan,” “Lucifer,” “2018,” and “Manjummel Boys,” the latter also released last month.
Directed by Girish AD, “Premalu” features an ensemble cast including Naslen, Mamitha Baiju, Althaf Salim, Meenakshi Raveendran, and Akhila Bhargavan, resonating particularly well with the younger audience demographic.
