Pushpa producer Ravi Shankar found himself in a difficult position while promoting Mathu Vadalara 2 in Hyderabad. During the event, he was asked about the alleged connection of director Sukumar and actor Allu Arjun to the Jani Master assault case. Last week, Jhansi, representing the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, addressed the media, stating that a “big hero” had promised the victim professional support. This led to speculation that she was referring to Allu Arjun. However, Ravi Shankar refuted these claims.
When questioned if Sukumar and Arjun had offered any professional support to the alleged victim, Ravi responded, “What transpired between Jani Master and the girl is a personal matter. She was hired long ago as an additional choreographer for our film and will continue in that role throughout production. Jani Master was set to choreograph a special number for Pushpa 2, but the incident occurred just two days prior.”
Ravi further clarified that Allu Arjun, given his stature, wouldn’t be involved in such matters. “For someone of Arjun’s standing, he wouldn’t interfere or try to promote anyone professionally. He merely interacts with the crew, offering greetings and following the choreography steps. His name has been unnecessarily dragged into this. Why would he stop someone from working or promote another person? We’re all professionally connected to both individuals,” Ravi stated.
For those unaware, Jani Master was recently arrested in Goa and produced in court over allegations of sexual assault against a female colleague. After she filed an FIR, he was taken into custody and is now being held in Hyderabad’s Chanchalguda Central Prison. On September 15, the Narsingi Police filed a case under IPC sections 376(2)(n), 506, 323, along with relevant sections of the POCSO Act, 2012.
Following the news, Jhansi reassured the press, stating, “The Telugu film industry stands united in this matter. Though it may seem like no one is speaking up for her publicly, she has received support from a prominent director, two producers, and a big hero behind the scenes. The industry always backs talent.” Given her involvement with Pushpa, many speculated that she was referring to the film’s team.
