Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan opened to a positive response and is holding steady at the box office. On Day 2, the film grossed ₹38 crore in India, with the Tamil version showing stronger performance compared to the Telugu version. Tamil Nadu accounted for 90% of Day 1 collections even on Day 2, while Kerala and Karnataka also posted solid numbers. However, the Telugu version saw a slight dip.
The estimated Day 2 All-India gross stands at ₹28 crore, with Tamil Nadu contributing around ₹18 crore and the rest of India adding ₹10 crore. This brings the two-day total to ₹66 crore across India. With strong advance bookings for Saturday, the weekend looks promising, especially with the boost from Dussehra holidays.
To achieve hit status, Vettaiyan needs to gross around ₹200 crore in India. In the first two days, the film has already recovered one-third of its pre-release business, signaling a strong start. However, the film’s long-term success will depend on its performance beyond the holiday weekend.
