On April 9, 2024, banks will be closed in a number of states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, in observance of regional holidays such as Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Telugu New Year’s Day.
April 2024 Bank Holidays: This week, many days will see bank closures in India. Commencing on April 9, national banks, such as the State Bank of India (SBI), have declared a five-day vacation streak. The holidays are scheduled for a number of events and festivals, such as Eid celebrations, Bohag Bihu, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Telegu New Year.
However, throughout these bank holidays, internet and mobile banking services will be available for use. Negotiable Instruments Act Holidays are what the Reserve Bank of India has designated for these.
A few other noteworthy bank holidays in April 2024 include April 10 in Kerala, April 11 in most states with the exception of a few, April 13 in certain states in the northeast, April 15 in Assam and Himachal Pradesh, and April 16 in a few states in the north and centre.
On Wednesday, April 10, banks will remain closed in Kerala for Id-Ul-Fitr, while on Thursday, April 11, banks across the country, except Chandigarh, Sikkim, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh, will be shut.

April 5th: Babu Jagjivan Ram, also known as Jammu’s Jamaat-ul-Vida, was born
April 9: Gudi Padwa, also known as the Ugadi Festival, is the first day of Navratri in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Goa, Jammu, and Srinagar; it is also Telugu New Year’s Day.
April 10: Because of the Bohag Bihu/Cheiraoba/Baisakhi/Biju festivities, banks will be closed in Tripura, Assam, Manipur, Jammu, and Srinagar.
April 13: The second Saturday
April 15: Bohag Bihu/Himachal Day in Assam, Himachal Pradesh.
April 16: In Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh, is Ram Navami.
April 20: Tripura’s Garia Puja
April 27: Fourth Saturday
